DDD Peninsula – Student Registration
Congratulations! Your child has been nominated to attend the 13th annual Peninsula Diversity Dialogue Day (DDD), scheduled for November 1, 2022.
Thanks to support from Dominion Energy, there is no cost for your student to attend! DDD is conducted by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities. The 2022 Peninsula Diversity Dialogue Day is hosted at the ODU Peninsula Center.
Diversity Dialogue Day will bring together high school students from public and private schools throughout the Peninsula. Students will learn to recognize prejudice and intolerance, and to respect others. They will work closely with their peers from a wide range of ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Students will leave the program with tools they can use to create school and community environments free from the distractions of prejudice, stereotypes, and bigotry.
While at DDD, your child will be led through a series of activities designed to take participants through a process of awareness-to-action. Your child will engage in conversations with their peers about ways to recognize prejudice and respect others. Trained facilitators will guide the students through small group learning activities that explore personal experiences with discrimination and develop conflict resolution skills.
Transportation should be arranged by your student’s school. Lunch is provided by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities.
Please complete the registration form to ensure your child’s registration by October 14, 2022.
If you have any questions, please contact VCIC’s Hampton Roads Program Manager Paula L. Bazemore at pbazemore@inclusiveVA.org.
We look forward to the chance to work with your child on November 1!
