[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_toggle title=”Introduction” open=”true” icon=”left-open” icon_closed=”right-open”]Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 2nd annual Tidewater Prejudice Awareness Summit, scheduled for January 21, 2022!
This program has been held in other regions in Virginia since 2001, and is designed to bring approximately 50 middle school students from across a geographic area to discuss ways to combat prejudice in their schools. You can find a report from last year’s programs held in Richmond and Lynchburg here.
Thanks to support from Atlantic Union Bank, this program is offered for free to local schools! While at PAS, groups of 12-15 middle school students experience workshops facilitated by co-facilitator teams made up of facilitator-volunteers. Facilitators come from a variety of backgrounds and professions, all with a shared interest in working with young people to promote inclusion and respect.
As a volunteer, you will be asked to commit to co-leading a small group of students through their virtual sessions on January 21 from 9:30am-2:30pm. There will be scheduled breaks for stretching and for lunch during these times. Facilitators are also required to attend a mandatory Facilitator Orientation on Thursday, January 13 from 5:30pm – 8:00pm. A Zoom link will be sent in advance of this session.
Please complete the application by January 10. If you are selected, you will receive the link to attend the training session on January 13.
