PAS Tidewater – Student Registration

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_toggle title=”Overview of Prejudice Awareness Summit” open=”true” icon=”left-open” icon_closed=”right-open”]Congratulations!  Your child has been nominated to attend the Tidewater Prejudice Awareness Summit, scheduled for February 17, 2022.

Thanks to support from Atlantic Union Bank, there is no cost for your student to attend! PAS, which was founded by Jewish Women International, is conducted by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities.

VCIC has conducted this program for middle school students in Virginia for nearly 20 years. It is designed to bring approximately 50 students from across a geographic area to discuss ways to combat prejudice in their schools. You can find a report from previous programs held in Richmond and Lynchburg here.

While at the Prejudice Awareness summit, your child will be led through a series of activities designed to take participants through a process of awareness-to-action. Their educator will send a video for students to watch on the morning of the session, and then your child will engage in virtual, live conversations from 10 AM to 2 PM along with their peers about ways to recognize prejudice and respect others. (A scheduled 30- minute lunch break and stretch breaks are built in to this time frame.)

Please complete the Permission form to ensure your child’s registration by February 11. Once your child is registered, they will receive an email from your school point of contact with the attendance link.

If you have any questions, please contact VCIC’s Educational Programs Associate Emma Cox by email at [email protected].

We look forward to the chance to work with your child on February 17![/vc_toggle][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1576517666890{background-color: #e0e0e0 !important;border-radius: 3px !important;}”][kleo_gap][vc_single_image image=”16672″ img_size=”full”][vc_separator border_width=”2″][vc_column_text]
