Congratulations!  Your child has been nominated to attend the 15th annual Richmond Diversity Dialogue Day (DDD), scheduled for January 28, 2025.

Thanks to support from Dominion Energy, there is no cost for your student to attend! DDD is conducted by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities and hosted at the University of Richmond.

Diversity Dialogue Day will bring together high school students from public and private schools throughout the Richmond area to discuss ways to make their schools more inclusive. Students will leave the program with tools they can use to create school and community environments free from the distractions of prejudice, stereotypes, and bigotry.

While at DDD, your child will be led through a series of activities designed to take participants through a process of awareness-to-action. Your child will engage in conversations with their peers about ways to recognize prejudice and respect others. Trained facilitators will guide the students through small group learning activities that explore personal experiences with discrimination and develop inclusive leadership skills.

Transportation will be arranged by your student’s school.  Lunch is provided by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, and every effort will be made to accommodate any dietary restrictions listed on this registration form.

Please complete the registration form to ensure your child’s registration by December 20, 2024.

If you have any questions, please contact VCIC’s Educational Programs Coordinator Amanda Hurwitt at [email protected].

We look forward to working with your child on January 28!

Accessibility

The Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities strives to make the Richmond DDD as accessible and inclusive as possible while acknowledging the existence of external barriers that may prevent 100% accessibility. VCIC leans into our core values of integrity and openness as we work to provide the most accessible experience for all, while welcoming feedback about what we can do better.

Upon request made at least four (4) weeks before the event, VCIC commits to:

  •  Provide venue layout information including nearest parking and accessible entrances.
  • Provide large-print handouts and/or support interpreters brought by schools to accompany student participants.
  • Offer a meal accommodating dietary restrictions.
