Congratulations! Your child has been nominated to attend the Richmond Prejudice Awareness Summit, scheduled for October 18, 2024.
PAS, which was founded by Jewish Women International, is conducted by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities and is offered at no cost to area schools. The 2024 Richmond Prejudice Awareness Summit is hosted at Virginia Commonwealth University.
VCIC has conducted this program for middle school students in Virginia for over 20 years. It is designed to bring over 100 students from across a geographic area to discuss ways to combat prejudice in their schools. You can find a report from previous programs held in Richmond and Lynchburg here.
The program curriculum takes participants through a process of awareness-to-action. Students learn to recognize prejudice and intolerance, and to respect others. They work closely with their peers from a wide range of ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Trained facilitators guide the students through small group learning activities that explore personal experiences with discrimination and develop conflict resolution skills.
Transportation will be arranged by your student’s school. Lunch is provided by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, and every effort will be made to accommodate any dietary restrictions listed on this registration form.
Please complete the registration form to ensure your child’s registration by October 4.
If you have any questions, please contact VCIC’s Administrative Programs Coordinator, Haley Taylor, at [email protected].
We look forward to the chance to work with your child on October 18!
Form must be submitted by October 4.
